Dear Families,

The announcement of the snap lockdown in Victoria, last Friday, provided challenges for many in our community. Our thoughts are with those who are struggling within our community. At school, we had one hour to prepare a pathway for the next three days but our staff responded promptly with care and professionalism.

Given the challenges we faced last year, it is easy to fall into the trap of focussing on the negatives, as we head into this mini-lockdown. However, it is much healthier to acknowledge the negatives and focus on the positives and the things we are grateful for. This may not come naturally to everyone; it can be helpful to make a list or talk with your children about the good things we can take from this situation. One positive thing I've noticed is our staff's ability to cope with change and adapt quickly to a changing environment.

Below you will see a summary of some important points for the next three days:
  • Please ensure you have read the communication sent home last Friday and displayed on our website.
  • The Year 6 camp to Canberra has been postponed till later in Term 4.
  • The P-6 optional Homework Grid will be distributed today by each classroom teacher on Dojo by 11:00am and be used till Wednesday February 17.
  • Remember that the tasks are optional and do not feel under pressure to complete them.
  • Prep families will be able to communicate with teachers on Tuesday and Wednesday only as they are involved in online professional development today (Big Talk).
  • Classroom teachers will be available daily from 9:00am - 3:30pm.
  • Catholic Education Melbourne sent through communication over the weekend requesting that teachers take attendance each day. Classroom teachers will simply ask for a reply from you each day (Preps on Tuesday & Wednesday only) on Dojo to record student attendance.
Please take the time to read the communication also sent out today by Sharon Cameron, our School Counsellor.

Hoping that we are able to re-gather as a school this Thursday.

Regards,
Simon Millar
Principal of Galilee Regional Catholic PS
